spike
Spike, Bushroot's faithful sidekick

Real Name:

	Dr. Reginald Bushroot

Organization:

Sometimes member of The Fearsome Five

Base of Operations:

     St. Canard

Wanted For:

Attempting to turn a colleague into a mutant plant duck; menacing the

city with a bouquet of giant daisies; stealing Christmas; failing to

control the vampire potato for which he was responsible

First appearance:

     Beauty and the Beet

History:

Doctor Reginald Bushroot was a low-funded scientist at an ivy league

school. His ultimate goal was to end world hunger by combining plant DNA

with the DNA of other ducks, thereby giving them the ability to

photosynthesize (combine sunlight with gases in the air to synthesize

food. Remember your science class?) When his grants were revoked, he

hastiliy put together an experiment and tried it on himself. Needless to

say it worked a little to well making him the first duck with plant DNA

(Laceum nycanthropus). Unfortunately, Bushroot then had to turn to

crime to further fund his research. (Sounds frighteningly real)

Synopsis:

Bushroot is not really such a mad scientist. More like a mislead

scientist. All bushroot really needs is maybe some friends or a support

group. He is often seen lonely and has attempted many times to "grow" his

own friends and even a bride.

Why is the scientist who tries to solve world hunger the "bad guy"?

There must be something about scientists people don't like since they are

often the "bad guys". A few examples are Doctor Frankenstein, Doctor

Jekyl (Mister Hyde), and our friend Bushroot. FYI the idea of

photosynthesis as an answer to world hunger has been brought up

before. That's why martians and other aliens in old movies are always

portrayed having green skin.

"Oh look at me, I'm shaking like a leaf." Bushroot isn't scared of anything. Except maybe a weed whacker.

"I've found the way to attain the perfect bride! I'm growing my own." What Bushroot lacks in social grace he makes up for in ingenuity.
