Ever wonder what the ATDP servers really look like? the one on the left is the old Sun Solaris server, the one on the right my G4/500 Mac. in between is The Iron Giant, carrying the earth in his hand and Hogarth on his shoulder. the Giant protects the servers from harm, and random hackers ;-) (click on the pic above to see a larger version.)

important announcements
- Please turn in to your TAs the website outline you drew last week. Tom, Angel, Luis and I will be going around today discussing your website idea with you:
Angel: groups 1 & 3
Lloyd: groups 2 & 4
Tom: groups 5 & 7
Luis: groups 6 & 8
- Sofia Mohammed sprained her ankle during break last Friday, and will be missing TIC this week. :-( However, this class being what it is, Sofia will STILL be with us in lab, virtually speaking. She'll be checking the class site, the weblog, and will be online via Instant Messaging. Her groupmates and TA will be talking to her, and you can, too. Sofia's AIM screen name is thinkingb ... IM her and let her know what's up in lab, and to just say hello and encourage her ankle to heal. ;-)

- Tom's essay on the course weblog...
An Education You Can't Download
"Not everything you need to learn can be learned in advanced placement courses. There is no equation for emotion. There is no calculus for group interaction. We've been telling you for a week that sum total of mankind's knowledge is on the Internet. That would probably lead you to think that anything you want to know is a mouseclick or two away. Well... that's not quite a lie, but it's a half-truth."
- journal question
thanks, Tom Fletcher, for keeping on top of journal responses! (Note to TAs: please pitch in and respond to your group's journals, as well.) i promise to try hard and catch up to the journals this week and this coming July 4th weekend. sometimes i wish this class only had 20 students, like it was in the first TIC, but actually no... you all rule. thanks for being in this class.
- homework for Wed. 6.28
Re-read chapter 9. Look for additional Tables tutorials online -- for example, go to Google and enter "HTML tables tutorial" as your search string. The idea is to master Tables until you can do them in your sleep. ;-)
