  • Tom's essay on the course weblog:
    A Digital Florence

As we discussed earlier, the Internet was founded by scientists and comptuer enthusiasts for research and as a hobby. The Internet, in its earliest stages, was arcane. Technical. Zeroes and ones. A massive hierarchy of slashes, dots, paths, and backdoors. (cont'd.)

  • journal question
Tom and I are trying hard to catch up on the tsunami of journals you've written so far. This upcoming July 4th weekend ain't gonna be one for me, for the most part! But I don't mind it at all... the journals you have been writing are thought-provoking, and in sum comprise an excellent snapshot of where you are at in this course right now, and what you think about it all. I love reading them and will try my best to respond personally to each one. Keep up the great work, kids!

  • homework for Mon. 7.03
NONE! :-) enjoy your 4th of July holiday weekend... (but do come back on Monday).
