- Tom's essay on the course weblog
We're Watching You...
We talked about government and the Internet earlier when we discussed who builds the net, who controls domain name registration, etc. We also said that so far, "real world" governments haven't touched the net int he form of taxes or intervention. That's technically true, they haven't touched the net, but they have put it under an all-encompassing microscope. Huh? Read on...
- Journal question:
Is privacy and security an issue to you when it comes to the Internet? When filling out personal data forms on websites, do you usually enter accurate information, or do you usually make things up?
Do you care if governments or corporations know all about you? Are you willing to trade your privacy for protection from terrorists? Would you consider encrypting your e-mails with a program like Pretty Good Privacy to discourage people from reading your personal e-mails?
- homework for Fri. 7.14
No homework. Continue working on your individual and group website projects.
