that's me perched on the lower branches of a tree on which i was building a tree house. this pic was taken about a month and a half ago, when i was still in Maui. i live there six months out of the year (when it's cold and rainy in the SF Bay Area!), and the rest of the time i live and work in Berkeley. this tree/treehouse is in upcountry Maui, on the slopes of Haleakala Volcano. this area used to be an ancient Chinese cemetery (the old headstones and bones were shipped to China earlier this century). my brother and i, and the rest of our family, undertook the strenuous but fun project of clearing this area and converting it into a campground.
