My name is Paul Garcia. I live in Huron, California; it is located in Fresno County. Huron is an agricultural-based town; it is Huron's main economic source. Even though Huron may have many problems, it is still my town. It is the only place that makes me feel at home.
On December 30, 1982, I came into this world. I was born in Hanford, which is located in the San Joaquin Valley in California. When I was first born, I had lived in Huron for about a year. Then my mother, brother, and myself moved to Lemoore, a town about 30 miles from Huron. There I was raised, but Huron was often visited.
I attended elementary/middle school in Lemoore. I even attended my freshman year of high school in Lemoore. Once my sophmore year came around I moved to Huron with my grandmother. This presented a few problems. I had to move to a new school, leave my friends and make new ones. But only time could correct that; it has. Presently I am in athletics and keeping my grades up. How long will that last? I don't know, but hopefully it will.
I have been taking two classes in Berkeley for the past six weeks (from June 20-July 30). They are Intro. to Archaeology and designing websites using HTML. I will leave back to Huron on July 30th, 1999. I plan to go back to share my many experiences of Berkeley and Casa Joaquin Murrieta. These memories will stay with me for many years, and most likely the rest of my life. It was the first time I have really been away from my family. I am not going to say that is good (because I don't want to hurt my family's feelings, just kidding guys don't get mad at me), but it has been a good experience to go through.
I hope to be back next year with the CALMEKAC program. I also hope to bring along many others as well. Maybe by going back and sharing my experiences I will get some interested (that is also why I have a website).
