The Clarke Memorial Swim Center is located on Heather Drive. It is a great place to have fun with your friends or join the swim team: The Aquabears. If you love to watch those synchronize swimmers in the Olympics and want to try it out, join the synchronize team:The Aquanauts! All this can happen at the Clarke Memorial Swim Center.
"Gleaming the Creek" is BACK!!! Hours of Operation are Wednesday through Sunday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A parent-signed waiver of liability, helmets, knee and elbow pads are mandatory. Cost is $5 per visit with discount passes available. For more information, call (925)256-3539. The skate park is a great way to show off your moves on any of the many ramps located there. Come with your friends and have a great time!
The nut house is a great place for teens to go on Friday nights. It offers activities that include pool, ping pong, air hocky, foosball, board games, movies, karaoke, indoor basketball, food and drinks, video games, and live local high school bands. The Nut House is held at the Civic Park Community Center on Friday evenings from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm and is open to all teens who reside or go to school in Walnut Creek. It's free of charge. The former ranch of early Walnut Creek pioneer Frank Borges is today the home base of Walnut Creek's Shell Ridge Open Space activities. It, too, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Borges Ranch is a ranger station and home for Open Space Ranger Ron White and his family. An Environmental/Living History Program is offered at the ranch for school-aged children, college and civic groups to provide a hands-on ranching experience Tuesday through Thursday. Group tours, large group picnicking and overnight camping are by reservation only. The original Borges family home, built in 1891, houses a visitor center with historical displays of the turn-of-the-century. Admission is free every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and the first Sunday of the month from noon to 4 p.m. Donations are appreciated.
